En son ne zaman sınırları olmayan bir hayal kurdun?
Mesela ben çocuktum. Yani tam olarak bir yıl veremesem de uzun süredir uçsuz bucaksız olduğunu düşündüğüm hayallerimin günlük hayatın ve çevrenin getirdiği sınırlarda son bulduğunun farkındayım. Oysa insan hayatının sonuna kadar hiçbir dayanağı olmayan hayaller kurabilmeli.
THIS WORLD IS SMALL FOR CHILDREN
When was the last time you dreamed without boundaries?
For example, my last time was when I was a child. Even though I can’t give a precise date, I realize the dreams I think as vast have ended with everyday life and everyday society’s limits.

Yet, one should be able to dream without any grounds until the end of his or her life. Children are the master of this. When I was a child, on nights where the sky is full of stars, I used to dream traveling the whole galaxy, hopping from one star to another; but now I have put this dream aside, as now I know the stars are so far as we cannot reach. Again, when I was a child, as waves I heard, stingrays coming to light at the sand, octopuses among the stones called me, I was sure that I would stroll those endless oceans one day when I would be a big man and wander underwater. Now that I know I can hold my breath one minute at most, that dream seems childish.

Still, I was a very lucky child, because my parents didn’t set limits to my dreams; they broadened my horizon instead. When I was in elementary school, my mother was giving painting lessons to children my age in her own workshop.
Her hafta bir tema verir ve çocuklar ne isterlerse onu resmederlerdi. Ben de bazı günler katılırdım bu derslere. Kurs bitiminde aileler gelip çocuklarının yaptıkları resimlere bakarlardı.
Each week, she gave them a theme, and they painted whatever they liked. I used to join those lessons sometimes. At the end of the lesson, parents came by and looked at their children’s paintings.
Yine biten bir kursun ardından gelen velilerden bir tanesi oğlunun yaptığı resime bakarak "Oğlum! Mavi kedi olmaz! Bu ne böyle?" demişti.
Bunu duyan annem birazda sesini yükselterek "Aaaa! Neden olmazmış? Kedi mavi de olur pembe de olur." demişti.
O cümle o yıllarda belki pek bir anlam ifade etmedi benim için ama bugün en güzel kedinin o mavi kedi olduğunu biliyorum.
I remember one particular parent saying to his child that, “Son! Blue cats don’t exist, what is this?”. Hearing this, my mother had said “Why not? Cats can be blue or pink or whatever color.” raising her voice.
That sentence hadn’t meant anything to me in those years, but now I know that blue cat is the most beautiful cat.
While schools give us a standardized education that limits our imagination, parents shouldn’t.
Okullar yaratıcılığımızı kısıtlayan standart eğitimler verirken aileler bunu yapmamalı çünkü en verimli eğitim hayal gücünü dilediğimizce kullanabildiğimiz bir sistemle mümkün. Bu dünya çocuklara dar, bırakın akılları erdiğince hayal kursunlar. Kursunlar ki dünya güzelleşsin.
Because the most productive education is possible with a system with which we can use our imagination the way we like. This world is small for children, let them dream as much as they can so that this world can be a better place.
